Announcement – Death of David Nicholls

It is with great regret that I announce the death of Brigadier David Nicholls Royal Marines at his home on July 4th 2006, age 57. Dave was a longstanding and very prominent club member and one of our most accomplished climbers. His climbing achievements are legend and include the first Service ascent of the North Face of the Eiger in the 70’s as well as pioneering Club expeditions to the Greater Ranges. Dave was a regular attendee of Club meets and always took an active part in the Clubs organisation, serving as Chairman and President in the past. He will be greatly missed by the Club and all who climbed with him. A full obituary will follow in the next newsletter.

There will be a private family cremation followed by service at Dunkeld Cathedral at 1 p.m. on Tuesday 11th July to which all friends and family are invited. Donations should be made to South Georgia Heritage Trust. Address details for letters of condolence may be obtained from the Club Chairman.

Details on how to donate to the South Georgia Heritage Trust can be found on their website.
